Can I talk to someone before committing?
Yes — we offer a free, 100% confidential 15-minute consult with our front office. Call or text 385-254-3522 and we’ll answer your questions and help you decide on a good next step.
How do I find the right therapist for me?
Take our free online Therapist Questionnaire — the DEPTH assessment matches you with the therapists best suited to your needs, at no cost and separate from any therapy fees. You can also browse our team and filter by specialty, approach, and availability.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit is a 50–60 minute professional intake ($150). Your therapist will get to know you, talk through what brings you in, and build a plan together. Ongoing sessions are $125–$200 depending on your therapist’s licensure level — see Pricing for details.
When are you open?
Our front office is available Monday–Thursday 8am–7pm, Friday 8am–3pm, and Saturday 8am–12pm every other week. We see clients in person in Lehi and online across Utah.
What if I need help right now?
If you or someone you love is in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time, or call 911 in an emergency. For urgent (non-emergency) needs, crisis sessions booked with under 24 hours’ notice are $200 for all clinicians.
Pricing, insurance & payment
Do you accept insurance?
We’re a private-pay practice and don’t bill insurance directly — a deliberate choice to protect your privacy. Many clients submit our itemized statements to their insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on their coverage and benefits.
Can I get reimbursed by my insurance?
Often, yes. We provide itemized statements that include all the information your insurer needs to determine reimbursement. Whether you’re reimbursed, and how much, depends on your specific plan and benefits.
Why don’t you take insurance?
To protect your privacy. Insurers often require detailed session notes that can become a permanent part of your medical record and may affect future coverage. Staying private pay keeps your personal information confidential and your care focused on you.
Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?
Yes. We accept HSA and FSA cards, as well as third-party payments — for example, from a family member or clergy.
How much does therapy cost?
Sessions are $125–$200 each, depending on the therapist. Your first step is an intake and assessment for $150. Psychological evaluations are $1,200 (under 12), $1,500 (12–17), and $2,000 (18+).
How do I get started?
Book online anytime, or call or text 385-254-3522. We have openings this week.
Individual therapy
What treatment methods do you use for individual therapy?
Our therapists may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), among others.
Which method will be best for me?
We match treatments and therapists to each person. We often use ART and EMDR for trauma, DBT for emotion regulation and relapse prevention, and CBT in a wide variety of situations. Your DEPTH assessment and first few sessions help us build a plan around your needs.
How much does individual therapy cost?
Sessions are $125–$200 each, depending on the therapist you match with and the methods they use. You’ll also complete a professional intake, which is $150. Getting matched with the right therapist through our online DEPTH assessment is free and separate from your therapy fees.
Is online therapy available?
Yes. Online therapy sessions are available, so you can meet with your therapist from wherever you feel most comfortable.
Am I a good candidate for individual therapy?
You don’t have to wait until you feel ready. Whether you’re working through a specific issue, setting boundaries, or just exhausted from fighting something on your own, our team will help you find the right path forward.
Couples & marriage therapy
When is the right time to consider couples or marriage therapy?
Any couple can benefit from better communication, clearer conversations about friction, or help healing from trauma. Many couples reach out around broken trust, infidelity, frequent arguments, resentment, poor boundaries, financial conflict, addictive behaviors, or separation. If you feel friction but can’t quite name the cause, an experienced, objective third party can help you find it.
How much does couples therapy cost?
Sessions cost $125 to $200 each, depending on the therapist you match with and the methods in your custom plan. You’ll also complete a professional intake, which is $150. Getting matched with the right therapist through our online DEPTH assessment is free and separate from your therapy fees.
What are the benefits of couples therapy?
Couples therapy can help you improve communication, resolve disputes, clarify how you feel about the relationship, rebuild trust, and deepen intimacy. Early on, your therapist helps you clarify your goals, both as a couple and as individuals, so you can make measurable progress.
What methods does Therapy Utah use for couples therapy?
Your therapist may use the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). We also offer the LIFT Program, our own approach for rebuilding trust after betrayal.
Do I need to attend every session with my partner?
Not always. Some sessions require both partners; others may only need one of you. You and your therapist will build a plan around the issues you’re facing and the methods you use to address them.
Family therapy
Is therapy right for my family?
Family therapy can help any family improve communication, build trust, and resolve disputes or trauma. It tends to work best when members stay open-minded about the process. Finding a therapist who’s a strong match matters too, which is why we pair your family with someone whose style, experience, and modalities fit you and your loved ones.
How much does family therapy cost?
Family therapy sessions are $125–$200 each, depending on the therapist you match with and the methods they use, and sessions run 50–60 minutes. You’ll also complete a professional intake, which is $150. Getting matched with the right therapist through our online DEPTH assessment is free and separate from your therapy fees.
How long does family therapy take?
It depends on the issues you’re facing, the plan we build, and your family’s pace. That said, it’s not uncommon for families to spend 15 to 20 sessions with one of our therapists.
What methods do you use for family therapy?
Our family therapists may use IFS (Internal Family Systems), play therapy (especially helpful for families with children), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), among other approaches chosen to fit your family.
What are the benefits of family therapy?
Families often see better communication, less tension and resentment, clearer boundaries, more effective problem-solving, easier expression of feelings, calmer conflict, and more empathy for one another.
Child & teen therapy
Is therapy right for my child?
Almost any child or adolescent can benefit from therapy, as long as they’re open-minded about trying new things. Our therapists use a variety of techniques, including play therapy and sandtray therapy, to help children feel comfortable opening up and expressing themselves.
How much does child therapy cost?
Sessions are $125–$200, depending on the therapist your child matches with and the methods they use. There’s also a one-time professional intake, which is $150. Getting matched with the right therapist through our free online DEPTH assessment is separate and free. You can see full details on our therapy services page.
How long will my child be in therapy?
It depends on what your child is working through and the approaches we use. It’s common for children to spend around 12–16 weekly sessions, though this can vary based on their circumstances.
What if my child doesn’t want to go?
That’s normal, and you’re not stuck. Our therapists use different techniques to help kids feel more comfortable, and sometimes it’s simply a matter of matching your child with a therapist who’s a better fit. We have resources and contingencies that can help.
Will I be involved in my child’s care?
Yes. We work with you to understand your child’s needs and keep you connected to their progress, while giving your child the space they need to feel safe. If your family could use support too, ask us about family therapy.
Online therapy
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
For most concerns — anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues and more — research shows video-based therapy works about as well as in-office care. What matters most is the fit between you and your therapist, which is exactly what we focus on during matching.
Is online therapy secure and private?
Yes. Sessions run through TherapyPortal’s secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform — not a general video-call app — so your conversations stay private and protected.
Do you accept insurance for online sessions?
Therapy Utah is a private-pay practice; we don’t bill insurance directly for online or in-person sessions. We provide an itemized superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and we accept HSA/FSA cards. See our Pricing page for details.
Do I need to be in Utah to do online therapy with you?
Most of our therapists are licensed in Utah, so online sessions generally work best when you’re located in the state — whether that’s Lehi, St. George, Logan, or anywhere in between. Every situation is a little different, so just mention where you’ll be joining sessions from when you reach out, and we’ll help you figure out what’s possible.
What do I need to get started?
Just a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private space where you can talk freely for the session.
Can I switch between online and in-office sessions?
Yes. Many clients mix the two depending on their week — meeting online when it’s easier and coming into our Lehi office when they’d rather meet in person.
Psychological & immigration evaluations
How long does a psychological evaluation take?
At Therapy Utah, evaluations typically take 3–4 hours, though the exact length depends on your needs and the assessments involved. If we expect to need more time, we’ll do our best to let you know ahead so you can plan your schedule.
Who should have a psychological evaluation?
All kinds of people, for all kinds of reasons — including people recommended one after a hospital stay, those mandated by a court, individuals required by a school, care facility, or prison, and people referred by a GP or family doctor.
What conditions can a psychological evaluation diagnose?
Evaluations can clarify a broad range of mood and behavioral concerns. They often help diagnose anxiety disorders (including OCD, PTSD, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder), depression, and ADD, ADHD, BPD, and other behavioral disorders.
What are the benefits of an evaluation?
An evaluation gives you and your therapist a clearer understanding of your needs, along with a diagnosis for any specific conditions. That can open the door to the right medication or specialty services.
Do you offer other kinds of evaluations?
Yes. Alongside psychological evaluations, we also provide immigration evaluations. If you’re not sure which fits, reach out and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Do you offer group therapy?
Yes — we run ongoing therapy groups, including betrayal trauma and men’s compulsivity groups. See the Groups page for current groups, schedules, cost, and how to join.
