Therapist

Micah-Ingalls-Therapist-Therapy-Utah-EMDR
Over the past 10+ years, I have witnessed that there is a path of personal growth and healing that leads to the development of a recovery mindset and helps clients change unwanted behaviors. Many clients I work with find themselves unable to make significant changes despite past therapeutic or individual work. They feel helpless in their personal lives and relationships. Being stuck in a place of trying to change and struggling to create sustainable change can feel hopeless.

As a trauma-informed licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have become an expert in creating a safe space for helping couples and individuals navigate the struggle of addiction and the trauma of betrayal. We will work together to help you navigate the steps of recovery as well as the process of healing, from avoidance to engaging in recovery, leading to embracing the freedom and healing that comes with recovery. I recognize that this vulnerable journey of healing requires courage and commitment in order to find the freedom and change you are seeking. To that courage and dedication you bring, we will add structured efforts through which you will process the origins of your addiction(s); you will develop skills of self-awareness, personal honesty, and accountability; and you will experience deeper connections in your life than ever before. It is not easy – but reclaiming yourself, healing your wounds, and building vulnerable connections is crucial and will lead to growth in expected and unexpected ways.
In reading this, you demonstrate increased courage and honesty with yourself that it is time for change. Those are steps towards recovery. You may have tried to change previously, you may be in the advanced stages of recovery, or this may be your first attempt to get help. Wherever you are in your process, I look forward to working with you on this journey of freedom from addiction and healing from betrayal through a lifestyle of recovery.

Client Testimonials:
“Micah is one of the most kind, caring, compassionate, and patient people I have ever met, and is the only therapist (and only the 2nd person) with whom I have ever felt completely, and 100% safe. I have never felt 100% completely safe with men due to trauma in my past, but Micah helped me feel at complete ease from the moment I met him.”

“I have seen Micah Ingalls for nearly four years now for couple’s therapy, and due to extensive CPTSD and major childhood trauma. He is one of the most kind, caring, compassionate, and patient people I have ever met, and is the only therapist (and only the 2nd person) with whom I have ever felt completely, and 100% safe. I have never felt 100% completely safe with men due to trauma in my past, but Micah helped me feel at complete ease from the moment I met him. In fact, when he left his old practice, I followed him to Therapy Utah, and even pay out of pocket, because he is that good. So far, I am very impressed with the professionalism, friendliness, and kindness I have experienced at Therapy Utah, and am so happy I was able to follow Micah there. Micah, and Therapy Utah, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your team is top-notch!”

The History of Therapy Utah

Brannon Patrick and Kathy Kinghorn began their therapy careers in private practice over a decade ago, working with clients seeking help with sex addiction and betrayal. Since then, they’ve received the highest levels of training in both group and individual therapy work.

Five years ago, Brannon and Kathy started Therapy Utah to provide a deeper level of support for individuals, couples, families, and children seeking help with various challenges. They also developed the LIFT Program to create a unique and thriving community of support for people suffering from sex addiction and betrayal trauma.

Brannon also hosts the Real Talk Recovery podcast with his brother Tyler Patrick (the wandering therapist), providing accessible insights into relationships affected by addiction and betrayal. Before that, he hosted a similar podcast called The Betrayed, the Addicted, and The Expert for over four years, reaching listeners all over the web.

Kathy has a passion for educating professionals on sexual addiction and betrayal trauma. She has spoken at national and local conferences, and is a part-time instructor at The University of Kentucky. She’s also a field instructor for The University of Utah, and is on the advisory board for Sundance Academy. Kathy is also the author of The Long Road to Recovery, and hosts The Three Minute Therapist podcast. Kathy enjoys speaking engagements, and is available for events upon request.

Today, Therapy Utah provides in-person and online therapy services for a diverse range of clients in specially-designed facilities. We hire experienced, licensed therapists who specialize in specific modalities, provide detailed in-house training, and focus on matching every client with a therapist who will support their goals and needs effectively.
