Anxiety Therapy in Lehi, Utah

When worry runs your day and your body won’t settle, it’s exhausting. At Therapy Utah, our licensed therapists help you understand what’s driving your anxiety and give you practical, evidence-based tools to quiet the noise and feel like yourself again.

You don’t have to live on high alert

Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people reach out to us, and it’s also one of the most treatable.

Anxiety shows up in a hundred different ways: the racing mind that won’t shut off at night, the knot in your stomach before work, the avoidance that keeps your world getting smaller. Whatever it looks like for you, it makes sense that you’re tired of carrying it. The good news is that anxiety responds well to treatment, and you can learn to relate to your thoughts and your body in a calmer, steadier way.

When you reach out, we schedule an intake and full assessment, then match you with the therapist whose approach fits you best. Many of our therapists focus specifically on anxiety. Clinicians like Mary Lamas, Whittney Wakefield, and Garrett Cotterell blend cognitive and mindfulness-based tools to help you feel grounded again. Anxiety often travels with other things, so we can also support you with depression, OCD, or unresolved trauma when those are part of the picture.

What anxiety can look like

You don’t need every symptom on this list. If a few feel familiar, it’s worth talking to someone.

  • Constant worry that’s hard to control or turn off
  • Racing thoughts, especially at night
  • A tight chest, racing heart, or shallow breathing
  • Restlessness, irritability, or feeling on edge
  • Trouble concentrating or going blank
  • Avoiding people, places, or situations
  • Panic attacks that come out of nowhere
  • Stomach trouble, muscle tension, or fatigue

How we treat anxiety

Our methods are evidence-based, and we tailor them to you rather than running you through a script.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you spot the thought patterns that fuel anxiety and replace them with more balanced, realistic thinking, paired with gentle steps back toward what you’ve been avoiding.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT teaches you to make room for anxious feelings without letting them run the show, so you can keep moving toward the life and values that matter to you.

Mindfulness & nervous-system tools

Practical mindfulness and breathing skills calm a revved-up body in the moment and, over time, lower your baseline level of stress and reactivity.

EMDR & ART for deeper roots

When anxiety is tied to past experiences, EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy help your brain process those memories so they stop driving today’s fear.

Anxiety therapy FAQ

A few of the questions we hear most often about getting started.

How long does it take for anxiety therapy to work?

Many people feel some relief within the first several sessions as they learn skills to manage symptoms. Lasting change usually takes longer and depends on what’s driving your anxiety. We’ll talk openly about progress and adjust your plan as we go.

Do I need medication, or is therapy enough?

Therapy alone helps many people manage anxiety well. For some, a combination of therapy and medication works best. We don’t prescribe, but we’re happy to coordinate with your physician or a psychiatric provider if medication is something you want to explore.

What if I have panic attacks?

Panic attacks are frightening but treatable. We teach you how to recognize the cycle, calm your nervous system in the moment, and gradually reduce how often panic shows up. CBT and mindfulness-based tools are especially effective here.

Which approach will you use with me?

It depends on you. We often use CBT and mindfulness for everyday worry and panic, ACT when anxiety is tangled up with avoidance, and EMDR or ART when it’s rooted in past experiences. Your assessment helps us build the right plan.

Is online anxiety therapy available?

Yes. You can meet with your therapist in our Lehi office or online from wherever you feel most comfortable.
