Grief & Loss Therapy in Lehi, Utah
Grief doesn’t follow a tidy timeline, and there’s no right way to do it. At Therapy Utah, our licensed therapists give you a steady, compassionate place to carry what you’ve lost, make sense of it at your own pace, and slowly find your way back to living.
Support that meets you where your grief is
Whether the loss is recent or years old, fresh or complicated, you don’t have to white-knuckle your way through it alone.
Loss takes many shapes — the death of someone you love, a miscarriage, a divorce, the end of a marriage, an estrangement, or the quieter grief of a future that won’t happen now. When you reach out, we schedule an intake and full assessment, then match you with the therapist whose style and experience fit you and your situation best. Online sessions are available too, so you can grieve from wherever you feel safest.
Grief can tangle up with depression, anxiety, and trauma, and we treat the whole picture rather than a single symptom. If your loss is wrapped up in a relationship or a family system, you may also want to explore couples counseling or family therapy.
What grief therapy can help with
Grief shows up in the body and the mind. Some of what we help people work through:
- The death of a spouse, parent, child, or friend
- Miscarriage, stillbirth, or pregnancy loss
- Divorce, breakups, and the loss of a relationship
- Anticipatory grief and caregiving for a dying loved one
- Complicated, prolonged, or “stuck” grief
- Loss of health, identity, or a way of life
- Numbness, guilt, anger, or relief you didn’t expect to feel
- Grief that has turned into depression or anxiety
There’s no scorecard for grief and no quota of tears you’re supposed to hit. We won’t rush you toward “closure” or tell you how you should feel. Instead, we help you process the loss in a way that honors it, so the weight becomes something you can carry rather than something that flattens you.
How we help
Our methods are evidence-based, and we tailor them to your loss and your nervous system.
Trauma-informed processing
For loss that feels stuck or traumatic, therapists like Holly Dixon and Anna Anguiano Smith use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and EMDR to help your mind and body settle around the memory.
Parts work & self-compassion
Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps you meet the grieving, guilty, or angry parts of yourself with compassion instead of judgment, so nothing in you has to be hidden.
Skills for the hard days
CBT, DBT, and mindfulness give you practical tools for the waves of grief, the sleepless nights, and the moments the loss hits out of nowhere.

Book your intakeGrief & loss therapy FAQ
A few of the questions we hear most often.
How soon after a loss should I start therapy?
Whenever you feel ready — there’s no deadline and no “too soon” or “too late.” Some people come in the first weeks; others reach out years later when grief resurfaces. We’ll meet you wherever you are.
Is what I’m feeling normal?
Grief looks different for everyone. Numbness, guilt, anger, relief, and even moments of laughter can all be part of it. Part of our work is helping you make sense of your own response without judging it.
What if my grief feels stuck or won’t lift?
When grief stays raw or frozen for a long time, it can become complicated or prolonged grief. Trauma-focused approaches like ART and EMDR are often very effective at helping the loss feel processed rather than trapped.
How much does grief therapy cost?
Therapy Utah is private-pay. The initial intake and assessment is $150, and ongoing sessions are $125–$200 depending on the therapist you match with.
Can we do sessions online?
Yes. Online therapy is available so you can meet with your therapist from wherever you feel most comfortable.
